Why do I get wrinkled tablecloths after going through the calender?
Our customers often tell us that their clothes come out wrinkled when they are ironing. In most cases, this is a transverse wrinkle caused by poor sliding. This can be due to the accumulation of detergent residues on the fabrics, which reduces sliding on the ironing board and encrusts the fleece. To prevent this from happening, it is advisable to check the rinsing process of the clothes, taking into account that the final pH is correct and that there are no detergent residues, and to regularly clean the lime residues that remain stuck to the ironing board inlet. In addition, adjusting the doses and frequency of wax added to the ironing board also helps to avoid this type of problem.
Why are my tablecloths completely out of square when I fold them?
Another very common problem that our clients have reported to us is related to tablecloths. Sometimes, when folding those made of polyester/cotton (50/50), it is found that they are out of square. This usually happens mainly with tablecloths that are very worn because, due to the use of the garment, they have lost a large part of the cotton. This causes the used fabric to behave differently when ironed than the new fabric and it is necessary to adapt the ironing conditions to the new conditions of the fabric. Polyester requires a lower ironing temperature so that it does not soften. When this happens, and because there is more space between the threads due to the loss of thickness, the pressure of the roller causes tension in the threads that makes them move and causes the misalignment.
Bright yellow stains appear on sheets and towels, especially in summer. What are they?
In summer, many of our hotel clients ask us the same question. Why do yellowish stains appear on sheets and towels at this time of year? These are usually elongated, with blurred edges and varying intensities, and are impossible to detect before washing because they are transparent. The answer is that these stains are attributed to traces of sunscreen, specifically UV sunscreen, which is resistant to water and rubbing. Therefore, since the stain is formed by a chemical reaction, it is not always easy to recover. In this case, treating the stains with organic solvents or treating the garments with a reducing product may be effective. Success will depend on the temperature at which the stain formed, the fabric, the degree of impregnation of the stains and the time they have been on the fabric.
